The Largest Defense Technology Exhibition and Startup Competition: Boryviter at Defense Tech Valley

On September 16–17, Lviv hosted the Defense Tech Valley conference, organized by Brave1 and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

The event brought together over 5,000 participants from more than 50 countries — including government officials, venture capital representatives, investors from Ukraine, Europe, the USA, the Middle East, and Asia, as well as military personnel, leading defense companies, and startups.

The conference served as a platform for dialogue between the military, who shared their field experience and defense technology needs, and developers, startup teams, and investors eager to contribute to Ukraine’s growing defense sector.

Boryviters contribution: Secure and lawful data exchange

Orest Bilous, Co-founder of the Boryviter Center of Excellence, served as a co-moderator and speaker at a roundtable dedicated to secure and efficient data exchange.
He emphasized that information transfer in defense operations should occur only through official channels, following Ukrainian law, confidentiality regulations, and OPSEC principles.

“Our principle is that any exchange of front-line data and feedback must happen strictly within the law and through authorized mechanisms.
We do not support ad-hoc or peer-to-peer routes. Instead, we propose stable, onshore Ukrainian solutions — centralized data management and joint pilots with the Ministry of Defense / General Staff and JATEC.
Boryviter’s role is to integrate these processes into short Lessons Learned cycles and turn them into legal pilots in cooperation with the state and international institutions.”
— Orest Bilous, Co-founder of the BoryviterCenter of Excellence

Boryviter also joined the exhibition stand of its partners — the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation.
Together, the teams highlighted the importance of professional training for Ukraine’s Defense Forces, which is critical for the effective use of advanced technologies and for saving soldiers’ lives.

This initiative is part of the “Wagon of Knowledge” donation campaign, aiming to raise funds to train 6,000 servicemen at the Boryviter Military School.

Ukraine as a global hub of defense technology

The event’s significance was underlined by Mykhailo Fedorov, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine:

“Ukraine has already become a global hub of defense technology.
The world looks to Ukrainian innovations for answers on how to respond to modern security threats — and for investment opportunities in solutions proven on the battlefield.”
