Our History +

During its first year of activity, Boryviter operated as a Military School, providing free training for the Defence Forces of Ukraine. In 2023, the organization established an Analytical Department, dedicated to research and Lessons Learned, and a Project Office within its structure.

Over three years, Boryviter has scaled into a Center of Excellence, which implements innovative projects to strengthen the defense capabilities of both Ukraine and Europe. The School continues to function as a separate public organization.

The Boryviter Center of Excellence +

Is a non-profit NGO that integrates training, research and analysis, and innovative projects to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities, alongside policy development in the security and defense sector. The organization fosters the development of the Defence Forces through educational programmes, conducts research on Ukraine’s wartime experience, implements effective international practices and technologies, and facilitates reforms and transformations in the military sector to support Ukraine’s integration into Euro-Atlantic structures.

Over three years of its operations, Boryviter has scaled from a Military School, providing free training for units of Ukraine’s Defence Forces, into a Center of Excellence whose activities are aimed at strengthening the resilience of both Ukraine and Europe against security challenges. The School continues to function as a separate NGO.

2022: From Idea to Creation +

Boryviter was founded in April 2022 in response to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. From the first days of the war, we saw a critical need to train mobilized citizens transitioning from civilian life to military service. Initially, it was a small group of volunteers teaching the basics of military affairs and drone operations.

2023: Expanding Expertise and Global Reach +

In less than a year, Boryviter transformed into an organization with over 100 experts conducting training and analytical research for Service Members, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, and other security and defense structures.

During this period, we also focused on creating a system for analyzing and researching Ukraine’s wartime experience. A significant initiative was the integration of the Lessons Learned methodology, which allows military training to adapt to the realities of combat operations in real-time.

Furthermore, we established cooperation with international partners – structures from NATO countries, the European Union, Canada, Lithuania, Germany, and others. Our experts participated in international conferences and training sessions, uniting efforts with partners to strengthen collective resilience.

2024: Institutionalization and International Recognition +

Boryviter became the first Ukrainian non-governmental organization to join the network of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC), opening new opportunities for training Ukrainian military personnel in Europe.

We also expanded our training programs, covering 11 specializations, including military leadership, operational planning, the use of unmanned systems, military communications, and Lessons Learned methodology.
