Building European Defence Education: Boryviter Joins the Network of the European Security and Defence College

The Boryviter Centre of Excellence has joined the network of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) — a structure uniting over 100 leading civilian and military educational institutions across Europe, including the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP), the UK Defence Academy, the Institute for Advanced National Defence Studies (IHEDN) in France, and the Federal Academy for Security Policy (BAKS) in Germany.

The partnership grants Ukraine's defence sector access to strategic-level education within the framework of the European Union's Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). The Centre's team of instructors and analysts has begun adapting existing programmes and developing new ones in line with ESDC standards.

"Our primary objective is to harness the full capacity of this network and direct it towards the Ukrainian defence sector, as well as veterans who wish to continue contributing to Ukraine's defence in military or civilian structures" — Orest Bilous, Co-founder of Boryviter.

Boryviter also gained the ability to enrol Ukrainian service members in training programmes at military institutions within the ESDC network under EU standards.

"Beyond launching new educational programmes, the Centre facilitates the participation of Defence Forces personnel in courses at European defence academies. This is a significant step in developing professional military education and enhancing interoperability with EU military structures" — Tetyana Ostra, Co-founder of Boryviter.

Joining the ESDC was made possible with the support of Ukraine's Ministry of Defence. Subsequently, Tetyana Ostra was appointed as ESDC's official representative in Ukraine, enabling coordination of Ukrainian defence institutions' participation in the College's programmes.
