The events convened policymakers, security experts, and civil society representatives to refine resilience strategies and strengthen long-term partnerships between Ukraine and the Nordic region. The theme of NUAS 2026, "A durable peace through democratic resilience: The Nordic-Ukraine partnership at scale", centred on institutional cooperation as a foundation for sustainable peace in Europe.
Boryviter’s Intervention
Throughout the visit, the Boryviter team engaged in strategic discussions regarding Total Defence doctrines, hybrid threats, civil-military cooperation, and the integration of Ukrainian wartime expertise into Europe’s future security architecture.
Tetyana Ostra and Orest Bilous presented the methodology for Lessons Learned (LL) and defence adaptation. At the Folketing, Orest Bilous contributed to a discussion on mechanisms for coordination between civil society and policymakers, emphasising the transition of democratic resilience from emergency wartime response to long-term strategic partnership.
Systemic Result
Addressing the "Future of European Security" side event, hosted by the Nordic Ukraine Forum, Tetyana Ostra detailed the role of civil society organisations in accelerating the adaptation of the Armed Forces to rapidly evolving technologies, particularly in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UxS) and Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (EMSO)
"In reality, ‘duct tape’ is not about being unsophisticated. It is about agility, the ability to adapt, integrate, and deploy faster than traditional systems were ever designed to do. Europe does not need to replace its institutional ‘red tape’ with Ukrainian ‘duct tape’. The challenge is learning how these two systems can reinforce one another. When technology changes on Monday, soldiers must be ready by Friday", said Tetyana Ostra.
