Transforming raw combat data into institutional knowledge for rapid doctrinal adaptation.
A dynamic defence environment generates invaluable combat experience daily. However, if this knowledge remains isolated within individual battalions, the broader military structure stagnates. Traditional, bureaucratic reporting systems—which can take months to compile—are dangerously slow for a war where enemy tactics evolve by the week. Institutional learning must occur in near-real-time to alter the course of ongoing operations.
Operating in strategic coordination with the General Staff (J7 Directorate) and the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, Boryviter serves as a foundational architect of the national Lessons Learned (LL) ecosystem. We deliver a comprehensive, multi-tiered preparation model: instilling After-Action Review (AAR) fundamentals for individual soldiers, preparing dedicated LL officers for brigade staffs, and conducting intensive programmes to build dedicated analysis centres across military branches.
Implementation across multidomain environments
Establishing LL methodology, developing institutional LL capabilities in practice, and preparing specialised personnel to execute rapid feedback loops.
Advancing military analysis methodologies and practical applications, encompassing LL analysis, operational analysis, alternative analysis, and the dedicated preparation of military analysts.
Conducting in-depth academic and applied research, including national defence and military studies, Russian studies, and war studies and training theory.
Providing strategic insights through national policy analysis, foreign policy analysis, and comprehensive capability planning to inform high-level decision-making.
Boryviter prototyped and facilitated the launch of the Armed Forces' digital Lessons Learned Portal.
This secure ecosystem centralises combat observations, replacing bureaucratic, fragmented databases with a unified system for rapid tactical adaptation. It is built on methodologies used across NATO countries, but adapted to a far more dynamic combat environment. The system combines the collection, structuring, analysis, and prioritisation of operational experience within a single framework and includes a strong analytical component for the rapid development of findings and recommendations.
Working with the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and military stakeholders to help establish an institutional Lessons Learned capability.
Working alongside the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and military stakeholders, Boryviter contributed to the early development of the Land Forces Lessons Learned Directorate capability. Our role included preparing Lessons Learned personnel, supporting the development of role requirements and processes, training candidates in analytical techniques, facilitating the first Tasking Authority cycles, and supporting the roll-out of tools for the collection and processing of operational experience. This helped lay the institutional foundations for a dedicated Lessons Learned capability within the Land Forces.
